Nick Winslow is a photo artist whose practice is based upon analog image capture and photographic print making. A student of cinema, Nick draws inspiration from a broad spectrum of pioneering cineasts. It is from this cinematographic perspective that his current work and its emphasis on camera movement originates. Nick’s most recent imagery explores the tension wrought from the disjunction of movement and stillness together, while exploiting the color and texture achievable only through Nick’s start-to-finish control of the photographic process. Over the past decade he has moved from digital product/lifestyle photography and commercial video to analog street photography and, most recently, to his current expressions of color and movement. The result of his journey is an ultra-personal, vibrant still imagery with a soft focus on conceptions of representation, connotations of movement and surreality.
